To view a webcast you will need to have either Real's free player or Microsoft media player installed depending on the format of the webcast.

Both of these are free (though there are also paid for versions of Real's player) and can be downloaded and installed from the links above.

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee is the Council's main scrutiny committee. It is responsible for co-ordinating and managing the work programme of scrutiny, identifying areas of need or issues of concern and ensuring that there is effective and timely scrutiny of Council policy, budget and authority-wide performance. Its role also includes holding the Executive to account. The Overview and Scrutiny Committee may delegate some of its function to one of the other standing panels and appoints a Chair for each panel from amongst its membership. It agrees the membership of scrutiny panels and sets up new ones as required.

Councillors. The Council is responsible for the appointment of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee. It also appoints to the Council's Standards Committee and to the Sustainable Development Committee. The Council agrees the Council Tax, approves the policy and budget framework for Hounslow and also appoints to formal positions such as the Mayor and has a ceremonial role such as signing twining agreements. In order to bring these debates on these matters to a wider community audience the Council, along with other major committees, have been webcast and widely promoted.
